The members of the Jury for the International Film Festival Documfest 2008, Timisoara (6-8 November), David Lowen (UK), Sabina Pop (Romania), Hermann Barth (Germany), Nicolas Feodoroff (France), Bert Hogenkamp (The Netherlands) and Milan Knezevic (Serbia) after viewing the films of the official competition, grant the festival awards.

Documentary film - a dilema

Official Selection of DocumFest, International Documentary Film Festival, 1st Edition - 2008

On the festival organizers' address a number of 183 films have been sent, from 30 countries. The pre-selection Jury was formed of Cornel Ungureanu, PhD, Claudiu Arieșan, PhD, and Gheorghe Sabău.

DocumFest 2008 International Film Festival

DocumFest 2008 International Film Festival is organized by TVR Timișoara (the local branch of the national TV station broadcasting for the South-Western area of Romania), with the help of The City Hall and the City Council of Timișoara, and co-organized by the Romanian Cultural Institute, in partnership with The French Cultural Centre and The German Cultural Centre of Timișoara.

Timisoara city

Timișoara is one of the biggest cities of Romania and an important economic and university centre, with a population of over 350,000 people. It has been shaped by various cultures and civilizations. Turkish rule began in 1552 and lasted until 1716, when the city was conquered by the Habsburg troops under the command of Eugeniu de Savoya.

TVR Timisoara

TVR Timișoara is part of the Romanian Television Society (Societatea Română de Televiziune - TVR), being the local studio which covers the South-Western counties of Romania: Timiș, Arad, Caraș-Severin, and Hunedoara. It broadcasts general interest programmes, in line with the norms set for public TV networks. It is attended by an average number of  2 million viewers.
